Min Fars Historie
This publication ties in with the Czech-Norwegian project called My Father’s Story. Within the context of forced labour during the Second World War, it reflects on the creation of a family memory in the specific case of the artist Petr Řehoř’s family.
The father of the artist Per Řehoř was sent from the so-called Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia in 1942 to work in forced labour for the Todt paramilitary organization. In German-occupied Norway, he worked on the construction of bunkers around Trondheim and in other locations. A year later, he went home to Jilemnice on special leave. He never returned to Norway and remained in hiding until the end of the war. His son, Petr, who was born several years after the conflict, did not know much about his father’s past, and he only recently began to discover more about his dad’s Norwegian story. In 2021, as part of the My Father’s Story project, he made a trip to Norway with his wife, the photographer Pauliina Pasanen, which inspired them in their artistic creation.
