Documentation and a database of Czechoslovak citizens executed in the period of National Socialism in Dresden

Implementation: 2017–2018

Head of project: Pavla Plachá

Description of project: This is a pilot project that aims to gradually document all executed Czechoslovak citizens. The project is jointly implemented by ÚSTR and Gedenkstätte Münchner Platz Dresden. Nearly two-thirds of the people (at least 855 of a total of 1,345) who were executed in Dresden during the Nazi period came from pre-Munich Czechoslovakia. The project will document each individual case in detail and at the same time it will study the specifics of Dresden as one of the centres of Nazi judicial persecution in relation to our territory. The outcome of the research will be a Czech-German database of executed individuals that will be made available to the public through a web portal.
