Exhibition Jan Palach´69 in the library of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University

Exhibition was open on 16 January 2012 in the Center of learning and information services of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague on the occasion of the 43rd anniversary of Jan Palach´s act. Exhibition recalls the act of Jan Palach who set himself on fire and the exceptional response to this act. Organizers of the exhibition are the Faculty of Arts of Charles University and the National Museum. Partners of the exhibition are the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes, Security Services Archive and other institutions. Authors of the exhibition Jan Palach ´69 are Petr, Blažek, Jakub Jareš and Patrik Eichler. Jáchym Šerých created the graphic design. The exhibition was first presented in 2009 in the Carolinum in Prague and in the Slovak National Museum in Bratislava. Opening speeches were made by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts doc. Michal Stehlík and the director of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes Mgr. Daniel Herman. Together with the Rector of Charles University prof.Václav Haml and other guests they then attended the traditional ceremony at the memorial plaque of Jan Palach next to the building of the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague. Center of learning and information services will be officially renamed the Library of Jan Palach on 19 January 2012.
