Implementation: 2016–2018

Head of project: Muriel Blaive

Other members of the project team: Nicolas Masłowski

Description of project: The project analyzes how the relations between societies and Communist regimes in Central Europe were presented in the past and how they are presented today. It aims to find out how and why this trace is weaker in Central European historiography than in the case of history of the GDR or the former Soviet Union and how it is related to historical images in society and to the theory of totalitarianism. The outcomes of the project will include a collective monograph Perceptions of Society in Communist Europe. Regime Archives and Popular Opinion. The project is funded by the Czech Science Foundation (GA ČR).
