Description of project: Using uniform criteria, the biographical dictionary of top KSČ functionaries (1921–1989) explores the fate of leading officials of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia (KSČ). A list of fundamental sources and bibliography is added to each biographical entry and so the publication can also serve as a starting point for a deeper study of topics linked to the personnel issues of the Communist Party. In addition to the bios, the book contains an introductory study outlining the subject of the origins and transformations of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia and the Communist Party of Slovakia (KSS) and their elected bodies in a broader context of the history of Czechoslovakia. The entries document the fate of the KSČ and the KSS functionaries who were members of selected governing party bodies in 1921–1989, or otherwise fundamentally influenced the activities of the KSČ.
