A final farewell to Ctirad Mašín

On 24 August 2011 in Cleveland (Ohio, USA), last respects were paid to Ctirad Mašín, an active participant in the anti-Nazi and anti-communist resistance. In view of his having served in the U.S. Army, the service was conducted with military honours. A number of mourners convened for the ceremony and listened to speeches celebrating the life of the deceased. On this occasion, the minister of defence of the Czech Republic Alexander Vondra awarded Ctirad Mašín (in memoriam) and Josef Mašín the highest honour his ministry can bestow – the “Golden Linden.” The historian Petr Blažek attended as a representative of the Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes. Ctirad Mašín’s last resting place will be the Riverside Cemetery for the interment of military personnel (California, USA).
